Explain the underlined words
(pair work)
Sia wrote the lyrics for a song about enduring heartbreak and pain and not trusting any more.
She hoped Katy Perry would record it, for the Hunger Games franchise soundtrack.
Perry passed, so the Australian songstress did her own vocal. Sia's manager added his falsetto to the mix, anticipating it would enhance the song's chances of being chosen for the soundtrack.
The plan worked and the song was chosen. After Sia was shown an early draft of the movie, she rewrote the lyrics to make the song fit the film story.

Now about the song
  • The expression “another one bites the dust” belongs to a famous funk rock song. What song?
  • What are “red flags”?
  • What does “elastic heart” mean for you in this song?
  • Explain whether you think the song fits the film?
